The Institute of Mathematics for Industry (IMI), Kyushu University has been established in 2011 April and is the first research hub for mathematics involved with industrial technologies in Asia. In addition to the three divisions of « Advanced Mathematics Technology », « Applied Mathematics » and « Fundamental Mathematics », it includes « Laboratory of Advanced Software in Mathematics? and the Office for Promotion of Collaboration. I will make a brief introduction of IMI and general research activity including PhD education. Although there are members whose research backgrounds are pure mathematics such as differential geometry, topology, number theory, representation theory, most of them are currently progressing joint research collaboration with industry. In this talk, I will introduce some of such research collaboration.
