Sames was one of the first “startups” created in 1947, established in 1972 in Inovallée. Becoming one of the international leaders in industrial spraying and bonding. Today it has 1,000 employees, including more than 250 on the Meylan site. The major challenges for Sames' human resources department more than ever are the health and well-being of its employees while cultivating living well, working together and a CSR approach strong>. It's been a year now since Sophie BROCCHETTO took up her role as HR director for the Sames France group, and joined the Inovalli site, after supporting Radiall in its transformation.
Helping employees take care of themselves and their health in the workplace
To support this message, concrete actions have been put in place. A medical analysis laboratory visits the site once a week to facilitate the medical monitoring of employees, in addition to the nurse already present daily. Screening and prevention days for diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases are also organized. Sames takes into account the difficulties of helping employees by organizing conferences on this subject. The pension fund is also mobilized to allow employees to benefit from individual and confidential advice meetings. “These initiatives are in line with our fundamental value, the Human Touch, which is embodied in concrete actions aimed at improving the daily lives of our employees in particular. The objective of all these actions is to prevent all our employees from running everywhere before/after work to take care of their health and manage their personal lives. Not only does this reduce stress, but also and above all it guarantees that they all have, whatever their position or function in the company, the same access to care and services,” emphasizes Sophie.
When CSR, the founding pillar of Sames, becomes a vector of meaning at work for employees encouraged to take charge of their daily lives
The very heart of Sames' pioneering electrostatic paint spraying technology responds to a major challenge: reducing the environmental impact of surface treatments by reducing the quantity of paint, glue and putty required. Who says less material, also says less solvent, less waste, less energy… The impact is major in high productivity industries, such as the automobile, or on a single production site like that of Nissan Sunderland (UK) recently equipped with the latest Sames technologies, more than 2000 cars (500,000 vehicles per year) are used every day and as many VOC and CO2 emissions avoided!
Moreover, to allow each employee to understand the meaning of their work, visits to the pilot line designed and developed on the Inovalli site, then for the Poznan factory, were offered to the company's employees, before before it is dismantled and delivered. “It’s important for them to see the overall result of their work, and to measure the ecological impact that each of their missions can have on the planet,” she emphasizes.
To go further in this CSR commitment, Sames has also launched an internal innovation competition so that “employees take control of their daily lives”. Several initiatives born from the field have been suggested and will soon see the light of day, such as the creation of an internal carpooling platform for employees who live furthest away, a “Vinted Like” for second-hand equipment, or even the establishment of a shared library of self-service books.
The training of young people and the development of skills, or the art of making people want to share the adventure sustainably
This CSR commitment is also reflected in the role that Sames intends to play with young people: “integrating young people, introducing them to the world of business and training them is part of the societal role of companies, and it is a role that we cares! », underlines Sophie.
So, this year, Sames welcomed 8 second year interns. The company had in fact offered all of its employees the possibility of taking their children on an internship. “For us, all employees are equally important. We wanted everyone to have the same chance to discover our jobs, the industry.”
Moreover, there were 13 work-study students in 2023, and 23 are currently being sought this year, in all functions, including HR.
And if the company attracts so much young people, it is also because Sames is fortunate to belong to an international group with 18 subsidiaries in 18 countries, which open up opportunities for international mobility, and that many professions are represented on the inovallien site, which brings together production and headquarters. An opportunity that even work-study students can take advantage of since one of them was able to spend 2 months in Germany, one month in the US and one month in China, while another was able to spend 3 months in the US!
Sames wishes to create its own internal school to enable employees to improve their skills and develop their careers within the group. “A production employee applied for a quality position, and we are in the process of building a program to enable her to achieve her objectives,” she illustrates.
And the group has just joined the Isère Regional Mobility Center to support professional mobility and welcome new profiles.
Skills management is much more a matter of state of mind than of administrative procedure!
QVCT, a daily philosophy
Sames cultivates the art of living well and working together, valuing interpersonal relationships to overcome difficulties. : “Efficiency is important in business, but having fun with others is just as important, and difficulties are always easier to overcome when interpersonal relationships are good,” recalls Sophie.
Actions around shared pleasure involve employees, such as participation in the Inovallien “May by bike” challenge and the Olympiads, where a team finished second in table football and even 20th overall.
On June 20, the site's 300 employees gathered for a big collective party with entertainment. The smiles on the souvenir photos testify to the success of the event.
